Melaleuca Oil and Diapering (Especially Cloth Diapering)

Melalueca has top quality grade oil which means it has a maximum of 5% cineole (which gives it, it's smell) and a 35-40% Terpenin-4-ol (which is what gives it the germicidal properties).

My husband likes that it helps with the smell of our diaper pail because I put it with my dirty diapers after I use them. This also can help disinfect the laundry when I wash them. When there is a poopy diaper I will spray a mix of melaleuca oil and water on the diaper too.

I've been using Melaleuca Oil for several months now as a disinfectant in my laundry. I have been using cloth diapers, so it has been nice to have the Melaleuca oil to use as a disinfectant in my cloth diaper load especially.

Melaleuca oil can also be used for treating minor cuts, scrapes, bug bites, and burns. It naturally fights bacteria, and naturally penetrates and cleans to help with the healing process, and gently soothing "ouches". I have been using Melaleuca oil and water in a spray bottle for when my baby has a sore diaper bum and it seems to be helping it get better quite quickly and I don't have to worry about it messing up my cloth diapers either.

The Melaleuca Oil last quite awhile too because it doesn't take much to work which is nice.

There are certainly many uses for Melaleuca oil, especially for cloth diapering individuals.

I also use it with my cloth wipes.

Pre-moistened CLOTH BABY WIPES system with Disposable or Cloth Diapers

I recently made some cloth wipes to use only when my baby is wet to save a little money. It is pretty easy and simple to make and use these wipes. The price would vary on the quanity of products you get.

I just cut up some Gerber Flats, and hemmed the sides. In the solution I put water, a few drops of Melaleuca Oil, a little bit of mild melaleuca soap put them in a disposable wipes plastic box. You could even possibly add a little baking soda. This combination could also possibly be used to help with disinfecting cloth diapers (or even other kinds of laundry) when washing them and help control smells a little bit before washing (if added to the diaper pail or loads of laundry).

FYI: Melalueca has top quality grade oil which means it has a maximum of 5% cineole (which gives it, it's smell) and a 35-40% Terpenin-4-ol (which is what gives it the germicidal properties). It does have a scent, but using it to disinfect my laundry hasn't caused any problems. I haven't smelt it after I wash, and using it with the wipes it isn't that strong either. I only put a few drops in it.

To moisten the wipes, I just put in probably about a half an inch of liguid (water, melalueca products, etc) and just let it get soaked up by the wipes. I put the ones that were more wet on the top to help even the wettness out. I made about 30 wipes and could have probably made half what I did. The melaleuca oil is a disinfectant and has a fairly strong smell, so it can help with smells. The other nice thing about melaleuca oil being a disinfectant is that it is suppose to help heal cuts, burns, bites, etc. So using it as part of my wipes solution it can help heal any sores on my baby's bum. My husband also likes that it helps with the smell of our diaper pail because I put it with my dirty diapers after I use them. This also can help disinfect the laundry when I wash them.
